A Programming Handbook
for strength coaches
🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕
An E-book that includes all sorts of pizza-themed programming goodness with written, photo, & video content all made by us! You also get four of our original protocols included within the handbook to use for yourself &/or your clients!
we aim to make complex strength programming concepts simple, easy to apply, and fun to learn about!
Who it’s for:
Fellow coaches who want a deeper understanding of strength programming for general population clients. You want to refine your programming skills so that it becomes something you feel (even more) comfortable & efficient with, versus something that you dread week after week. It can also be a super useful resource if you’re a lifting enthusiast (not a coach) who dabbles in programming for yourself.
Also, if you enjoy learning in a non-dogmatic way, our programming approach is a continuously evolving blend of what we’ve learned from various other coaches as well as the expertise we’ve built from programming for hundreds of coaches (& other lifters) over the past few years of our business (not to mention our years of in-person training experience before that).
Who It’s Not For:
Anyone who thinks they know everything there is to know about programming. 😉 (Spoiler alert - we don’t claim to either!) And people who despise pizza - seriously, the whole thing is pizza-themed, sooooo…
OUR COACHING APPROACH CENTERS THE HUMANNESS OF THE LIFTERS WE WORK WITH, AND AIMS TO WORK WITH - RATHER THAN AGAINST - WHAT IS TRUE FOR THEM.
What we cover:
Our favorite approaches to writing programs.
A hands-on, easy-to-implement, & flexible recipe we’ve created for building programs from scratch.
Foundational to advanced strength programming concepts.
Simple methods to foster continual strength progression & avoid plateauing over various time periods ranging from weeks to years. *And for those who are training for specific goals that take YEARS to achieve, how to keep programs varied enough to keep progressing, but not so varied that they cease making progress toward that long-term goal.
Programming for groups vs. individuals.
All About Volume: Too Little, Too Much, & Goldilocks Amounts.
How to be flexible when the plan doesn't go to plan (clients get sick, go on vacay, etc.).
How we use our favorite programming toolz.
Knowing when your clients are ready to progress based on a combo of quantitative & qualitative data.
How to create an efficient workflow so programming doesn't take you forever.
A section on writing kettlebell ballistics protocols - our fav!
What we Don’t cover:
Specifics on coaching your clients - while we think of programming as one piece of the whole coaching pie (process), this is not a detailed coaching handbook per se. Very general coaching concepts will be addressed only insofar as they are relevant to the purpose of understanding programming better.
An in-depth anthropological study of pizza (though we’d be interested if anyone has some good resources to learn about that!)
